Dana Ibrahim narrates to Dr. Ramzi how six months before she was kidnapped following a terrorist attack and how her kidnappers kept her blindfolded in a dark basement for months, while waiting for her father to pay the ransom.
Dana eventually loses hope of rescue, and decides to dig her way to freedom using a spoon. She eventually finds a buried iron case containing an amulet with a mounted gemstone that glows brightly.
She also discovers, much to her distress, that in addition to physical illumination, the amulet also allows her to see the good and evil inside a person as light and darkness.
Upon returning home, however, she discovers her father to be full of darkness.
