A combination of DC's Man-Bat and Marvel's Man-Thing. In order to save two universes, the young hero known as Access was forced to use the power of Amalgam (see Marvel versus DC (1996) #3). The macabre Man-Thing and the tragic Man-Bat are merged to create the Bat-Thing. This cursed creature is forced to stalk the night, seeking out evil wherever it may dwell.
