Created by Jack Kirby, the Demon ("Etrigan") is a demon from Hell who, despite violent tendencies, finds himself allied to the forces of good. The Demon is bonded to Jason Blood, a knight in King Arthur's Camelot. This renders Jason immortal, which he considers either a penance or a curse. He eventually becomes a demonologist and settles in Gotham City.
