After the Avengers "disassembled", this new team, which included Spider-Man, appeared. The team was not named "New Avengers" in the series. They were a splinter group that chose not to register with the federal superhuman commission. The team considered itself the authentic Avengers, as opposed to the government-sanctioned named the Mighty Avengers.
