After fifty years, the citizens of Bajor have freed themselves from the cruel Cardassian occupation. Lacking sufficient resources to guarantee their hard-won freedom, they welcome the assistance of the Federation. But what was meant to be a token presence soon becomes one of the most pivotal of Starfleet assignments. The discovery of a stable wormhole in an unexplored area of the galaxy turns Bajor, a remote frontier planet, into an interstellar hub of activity.
