Tales of Suspense comic books began as a horror and science fiction anthology. Starting with #39, Iron Man was introduced with Captain America. After issue #99, the Iron Man moved to a combined book for one issue titled Iron Man and Sub-Mariner #1 and then each gained his own title. Captain America stories continued in Captain America (1968 series) #100. Many issues featuring Iron Man and Captain America were reprinted in Marvel Double Feature.
